Fishing
Q: Are the fish biting?
A: Yes, definitely. The fish in Green Mountain Reservoir are known both for their size and their wit.

Q: What kind of fish are in Green Mountain Reservoir and Blue River?
A: Trout mostly. We have rainbow trout, brown trout, Cutthroat trout, lake trout, and sarcastic trout (they
really bite) and you can also find some Sucker and great Kokanee salmon.

Q: What's the best place to catch fish?
A: In the water.

Q: Do you catch more fish from a boat or from the shore?
A: It depends on where you are. Seriously though, sometimes shore fishing is better; other times a
boat provides better catching. We work hard at pleasing our customers but so far have been unable to
teach a fish to stick his head up and say "Shore fishing is great today!"

Weather
Q: Do you have snow?
A: Snow is often found outdoors here during the winter.

Q: Will it be snowing/raining next week? Or next month? Or whenever my cabin reservation is?
A: Although we possess a treasure trove of backwoods lore, we're no better at predicting the weather
than the US Weather Service (actually, we're exactly as good as the US Weather Service, since that's
where we get our weather reports from).

Q: Will I need 4-wheel drive or to put on chains on my tires during the winter?
A: We can't really predict that; it all depends on the weather (see previous question) and where you
might travel during your stay. The roads to and from the cabins are all county maintained and plowed
regularly but can still be a challenge in inclement weather. During winter months if not driving 4x4 or
AWD, you should always carry chains in your car, even if weather forecasts suggest you won't need
them, since the weather can quickly change to confound your expectations. Usually when you have an
early flight departing from Denver Airport!

Q: When does the ice on the lake melt in the spring?
A: Typically sometime in May, but on any given year it can vary from as early as the beginning of April
and to as late as the end of June, depending on the weather.

The Lake
Q: Is swimming allowed in Green Mountain Reservoir?
A: Certainly. Many people enjoy water sports of all kinds in Green Mountain Reservoir including
swimming, wake boarding & water skiing.  Be warned, however, that the source of all this water is
melted snow, so it can be mighty cold.

The Cabins
Q: Your cabins are called  “housekeeping cabins". What does this mean?
A: This means that you keep house yourself. Your cabin will be clean when you arrive, with fresh linens
and towels, but there is no daily maid service. You make your own beds (or not -- hey, you're on
vacation, right?), clean your own dishes, and so on, just like you would at home.

Q: What about towels and sheets?
A: Bath towels, hand towels, and sheets for all the beds are provided. Laundering of those items
during your stay are the responsibility of each tenant. Please do not remove towels from the cabins or
use them while boating.

Q: What type of cooking utensils and dishes do your units have?
A: We have enough glassware, and dishes to set a table for the number of guests listed. There are an
assortment of pots, and pans for cooking spaghetti, and other meals. The cooking supplies and
dishes are kind of generic. If you are planning on cooking while in the units and have need of
something exotic like a garlic press, food processing machine, double boiler etc., you might want to
bring them along with you.

Q: What type of condiments do your units have?
A: In general, the units are not stocked with condiments (ketchup, mayo, mustard, etc.). Most units do
leave whatever non perishable items our guests leave. Generally, not always, there is salt and pepper
and sugar available, but that's about it. If you're planning on cooking in the house you should plan on
bringing whatever spices and/or staples you will need for your meals. Most units stock coffee filters for
the coffee makers.

Q: What type of soaps do your units have?
A: We stock the units with small quantities of the following soaps. You need to provide whatever you
need after the supply is gone.
  • Dishwasher Soap Powder/Liquid
  • Liquid Hand Soap
  • Laundry Detergent enough for a couple of loads
  • Shampoo w/Conditioner
  • Body Soap

Q: How about toilet paper?
A: We stock 2-4 rolls in each bathroom. We also have a roll of paper towels in the kitchen. After those
are gone, you need to provide your own

Q: You mentioned that the cabins have no cable or satellite TV. Do they have electricity?
A: Yes! They also have indoor plumbing.

Q: How far apart are the cabins?
A: Approximately 15-20 feet.

Q: What is your policy on reserving a date?
A: Our official policy is that your reservation is only confirmed when we actually receive a credit card
payment and Policy Acceptance. We can not “hold” dates or guarantee availability.

Q: Can I charge my rental on a credit card?
A: Yes. We have added the ability to accept Master Card, and Visa for immediate confirmation.

Q: I know the check-in time is 3:00pm, can I check in early or drop my luggage, or cooler, off at the
cabin before check in time?
A: No.  Sorry but we usually have only 4 hours to completely clean and prepare the cabin (and
sometimes more than one cabin) for the next guest and are unable to accommodate additional
scheduling!

Q: I know checkout time is 11:00am, can I checkout late?
A: It depends if there is another guest arriving after you that day.  In the summer when we are fully
booked, we have only 4 hours to completely clean and prepare the unit for the next guest. In the winter
we can be more flexible.

Q: Are there restaurants we can walk to and from the unit?
A: Yes, the Green Mountain Inn is just a short walk up from all of our cabins. Check our Local Links
page for their contact info and menu.  We also have dining information in most cabins from all the
good local restaurants that we patronize ourselves.

Please read this helpful, yet artfully sarcastic, “Frequently Asked Questions” section that I lovingly refer to as
“What the F.A.Q.”  We get some common and at times humorous questions around here and I thought this
mountains!  I borrowed a some of these Question & Answer bits from a few different sources and added
some additional ones I thought would be helpful.  All information is provided with a sense of humor but will
hopefully clear up any things you might have been wondering about!
